Summer Wood is LOCATED IN SAPPHIRE VALLEY AND IS where the old Fairfield Inn used to stand before it was torn down.  Now it is a large grassy area which is used for special outdoor events.  This area overlooks Fairfield Lake.  One of the special events happens every Fourth of July.  At this ticketed affair A MAJOR WELL KNOWN Symphony presents a concert by the lake followed by fireworks over the lake.  Bald rock can be seen in the distance across Fairfield Lake (SEE THE PHOTO BELOW).  Near by there is a boat dock where canoes, row boats and paddle boats can be rented BY PROPERTY OWNERS OF SAPPHIRE VALLEY.  A nice sandy beach and swimming area is also near by FOR THEIR USE AS WELL.  SUMMERWOOD IS OWNED BY THE CAMP MERRIE-WOOD ASSOCIATION AND IS SOMETIMES AVAILABLE FOR OTHER PRIVATE EVENTS.
